I LOVE this author. Starting with this book, I have read three of his thriller series and would recommend them all. This book is part of the Beatrix Rose trilogy, which in my opinion is the best of the three series (the others are Isabella Rose and John Milton series). Why I love this book and trilogy: (1) All are very well-written, honestly a much higher caliber than I would have expected from an action genre, (2) you can practically envision the action playing out as if it were a movie, more so than I have felt with any other book I've read, (3) the main character is a kick-ass heroine with an unexpected situation going on that gives her urgency and laser-focus in her missions, and (4) if you do decide to read his other series, they frequently intersect in interesting and surprising ways. The main critique I have is that in this book particularly, but also here and there in others by this author, it seems he is basing his characters and plots too closely on those from existing movies. For example, this character is very similar to the Bride in Kill Bill, right down to the same unusual name. I almost docked him a star for it because it is disappointing, especially because he is clearly imaginative and a good writer, and should have been a bit more original in those instances-- but I am giving the full 5 stars because I could not put these books down and could hardly wait to read the next. I honestly don't know why he isn't more well-known and these books haven't been parlayed into movies/TV.
